  • International Court of Justice - The International Court of Justice (ICJ), also known as the World Court, is located in the Hague (Netherlands). It is the principal judicial body of the United Nations. The Court was founded in 1946 to replace the Permanent Court of International Justice. This site offers the text of the official judgments, advisory opinions, and orders which are received directly from the International Court of Justice. The decisions are published in English and French, the two official languages of the Court.

  • The European Institute for Crime Prevention and Control, affiliated with the United Nations (HEUNI) is the European link in the network of institutes operating within the framework of the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme. 
    HEUNI was established to promote the exchange of information on crime prevention and criminal justice among European countries. The frame of reference is given by the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme, which is formulated by the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.

  • A pathfinder is a reference tool used to locate information on a particular topic. Resources listed in a pathfinder are organized beginning with those having a narrow focus, such as a dictionary definition of a single term, to those having a broader focus, such as a discussion of databases that enable electronic research. A pathfinder ends with a review of the most current publications on a given subject. This Pathfinder focuses on the previous 10 years within the United States only. Juvenile Justice


  • The Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice (CJCJ) / Justice Policy Institute - This is a private non-profit organization whose mission is to reduce society's reliance on the use of incarceration as a solution to social problems. This is done through the provision of programs to persons facing imprisonment, education efforts about imprisonment and its effect on people, and technical assistance to entities wishing to establish and/or evaluate programs working with those facing imprisonment. 

  • In 1997, CJCJ formed the Justice Policy Institute, a policy development and research body which promotes efficient and sensible approaches to America's justice system. With offices in San Francisco, and Washington, DC, the Institute's national panel of advisors help to formulate, and foment progressive public policy in the area of juvenile and criminal justice. JPI conduct research, proffers model legislation, and takes an active role in promoting a rational criminal justice discourse in the electronic and print media.

  • Legal Information Institute, Cornell University - The server offers the LII's collection of recent and historic Supreme Court decisions, its hypertext versions of the full U.S. Code, U.S. Constitution, Code of Federal Regulations, Federal Rules of Evidence and Civil Procedure, recent opinions of the New York Court of Appeals and commentary on them from the liibulletin-ny, the American Legal Ethics Library, and other important legal materials -- federal, state, foreign and international. It holds the LII's e-mail address directory of faculty and staff at U.S. law schools as well as contact information on other people and organizations in the field of law. It is host to the Cornell Law Review, and offers information about Cornell Law School and the Cornell Law Library. 
  • National Institute of Justice - The National Institute of Justice (NIJ), a component of the Office of Justice Programs, is the research agency of the U.S. Department of Justice. Created by the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, as amended, NIJ is authorized to support research, evaluation, and demonstration programs, development of technology, and both national and international information dissemination.
  • Justice Technology Information Network (JUSTNET) - Under the auspices of the National Institute of Justice, JUSTNET is maintained by the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center (NLECTC), the country's most comprehensive source of law enforcement and corrections product and technology information.
